Sheriff’s deputies from Lancaster and Palmdale stations were involved in rail grade-crossing operations Wednesday in what both cities’ public safety officials said was designed to raise awareness of crossing dangers. Union Pacific railroad police joined the deputies in enforcing vehicle codes. Law enforcement officials also enforced laws prohibiting pedestrians from trespassing on railroad property.
