first_imgA close-up of one of Yubico’s security keys“It also feels good to be part of and invest in companies that help strengthen Sweden’s position as an innovation and technology country,” he said.AMF has announced a series of investments in unlisted Swedish companies since the COVID-19 crisis took hold, having earmarked large sums in particular to recapitalise struggling local firms with strong long-term prospects.Last month, it unveiled a new joint venture it was forming with bank SEB and FAM, the holding company of the Wallenberg foundations, through which SEK3.5bn would be invested in unlisted domestic firms under pressure from the pandemic-induced economic crisis. To read the digital edition of IPE’s latest magazine click here. Stina Ehrenswaard, chief executive officer and founder of Yubico, said: “With strengthened cash from a long-term Swedish owner such as AMF, we are now investing in new products and services and increased production capacity in Sweden.”AMF’s head of asset management Tomas Flodén said the pension fund had good prior experience investing in unlisted, growing technology firms – such as iZettle and Spotify – and he believed this new investment had the potential to generate strong, long-term returns for its customers. Sweden’s second-largest pension fund AMF announced a private placement investment of SEK300m (€29m) in Stockholm-based IT security firm Yubico, a company it said had seen revenue surge during the COVID-19 crisis. The SEK600bn Swedish blue-collar pension fund said Yubico counted nine of the world’s 10 largest IT firms among its customers, and that its ordinary-share investment in the company corresponded to around 5% of equity in the firm, making it Yubico’s fifth-largest shareholder.AMF said in a statement: “As more and more people work from home via the Internet, phishing attacks and online scams have also increased sharply.”The pension fund said Yubico’s main security product YubiKey – a physical security key for secure login to web services and mobile applications – had been proven to be the safest and most economical solution for securing user accounts online, according to numerous user studies, including Google research.last_img read more

Los Angeles Lakers struggle without Kobe Bryant in 113-93 loss to Chicago Bulls

first_imgThat partly explained why Bryant has averaged 24.6 points per game (third in the NBA), albeit on a career-low 37.2 percent clip. None of his teammates consistently produced enough to leave Bryant with open shots or entice him enough to pass. “Ball movement is great when guys are making shots,” Bryant said. “You don’t hit shots, I try to take the load myself and we have a lot of standing around. In games they hit shots, I sit back and let them hit shots.” The Lakers may have to wait some before Bryant can bail them out of a poor performance. Bryant said it’s “slim” he will play in Friday’s game in Dallas, though he will still travel with the team to continue receiving treatment. That included spending 90 minutes with Lakers physical therapist Judy Seto during the team’s morning shootaround on Thursday.Scott admitted he felt “surprised” that Bryant would not feel good enough to play against the Bulls. Scott said in definitive terms following the Lakers’ win on Tuesday over Golden State that Bryant would play against Chicago. But Scott decided otherwise after Bryant continuously reported feeling sore. “I didn’t get any resistance from Kobe,” Scott said. “He told me, which I thought was great, that he’s going to let me decide and he’ll tell me how he feels.”Bryant’s absence in Chicago also seemed unexpected considering the game represented one of the NBA’s marquee Christmas Day matchups. “I feel an obligation to play if I’m at the YMCA,” Bryant said. “It’s important just from a fan perspective to be able to see the top players.”Yet, Bryant said he had to approach his return without those concerns in mind. “It’s really going against my nature,” Bryant said. “But I have to be smart about this.”Scott has tried taking a conservative approach with Bryant following Sunday’s loss in Sacramento, where he had 25 points on 8-of-30 shooting and nine turnovers. In the previous five games, Bryant had averaged 20.3 points on only 28.3 percent shooting.“I think it’s one of those slow processes,” Scott said. “He’s put his body through a lot. I don’t think any of us will try to rush him back. We’ll go by what he says and then go from there.” CHICAGO >> The lure of playing in yet another nationally televised Christmas Day NBA game enticed Kobe Bryant. So did Bryant’s well-awaited reunion against Chicago Bulls forward Pau Gasol, the pair that once won two NBA championships together suddenly becoming opponents. But those two elements hardly matched Bryant’s concern over what he called “old age.” The 36-year-old Bryant missed his second consecutive game in the Lakers’ 113-93 loss on Thursday to the Chicago Bulls at United Center after reporting soreness in his knees, both Achilles tendons and metatarsals as well as back tightness.“I just need to kind of hit the reset button,” said Bryant, who watched the game from the bench wearing a crimson-colored coat. “What happens is my body realizes how messed up it is. Then everything starts hurting. It’s an opportunity to treat everything.” Meanwhile, the Lakers provided more than enough evidence to refute an inaccurate statement after pulling a surprising win over Golden State, the Western Conference’s best team. The Lakers (9-20) are not better without Bryant. “Those people are idiots,” Scott said. “He’s one of the best to ever play the game. You take him off the team and there’s going to be nights you struggle.”The Lakers struggled plenty against the Bulls (20-9). The Lakers were outrebounded, 57-39, while Gasol (23 points) and Joakim Noah (21 points) easily offset production from Jordan Hill (16 points) and Ed Davis (13 points). After supposedly benefitting from Bryant’s absence thanks to more ball movement and more shots, Nick Young and Jeremy Lin combined for nine points on a 3-of-14 clip. The Lakers shot 39.1 percent overall.“Teams seem to focus more on me, and it showed tonight that they wouldn’t leave me,” Young said. “We can joke around and all that. But we’re always going to need Kobe out there.” center_img Newsroom GuidelinesNews TipsContact UsReport an Errorlast_img read more

Workers unions endorse county mayoral candidate Rachel Regalado

first_imgMIAMI (WSVN) – Six unions and employer associations threw their support behind Miami-Dade County mayoral candidate Rachel Regalado at a news conference, Thursday morning.Regalado is running against the incumbent mayor, Carlos Gimenez, for the county’s highest elected office, on Aug. 30. With the election just over a month away, both campaigns have become more visible in recent weeks through endorsements and ads.The Miami-Dade Police Benevolent Association, United Teachers of Dade, Transport Workers Union, Pets Trust Miami, South Florida Taxi Cab Association and doctors and healthcare providers of Jackson Memorial Hospital stood behind Regalado at a campaign press conference, Thursday, and outlined their reasons for endorsing her.PBA President John Rivera said Regalado will put public safety first.“I think that it is clear that in these days, we need a mayor who is going to put public safety before anything else,” Rivera said.Regalado, a school board member and the daughter of City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, attacked her opponent, saying Gimenez has lowered the quality of life in South Florida.“For five years, he has refused to take responsibility for how his negligence and inaction has resulted in lowering our quality of life,” Regalado said. Gimenez released a new series of TV advertisements this week that focused on transit infrastructure.“When I came from Cuba 50 years ago, Miami didn’t look like this,” Gimenez says in one ad. “By this time next year, new trains will be available to our residents.”Gimenez has received endorsements from several political leaders, including two state representatives and the mayors of Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay and Florida City.“I want to continue to be the mayor of Miami-Dade County, so we can continue to create the infrastructure the residents need to create a better quality of life,” Gimenez says in the ad.Regalado and Gimenez are the current frontrunners. However, other candidates have entered the race. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote on Aug. 30, a run-off election will be held.“I ask the residents of Miami-Dade County to let their voice be heard on August 30th,” Regalado said Thursday. “It’s about time that we have a government that actually represents us.”Copyright 2019 Sunbeam Television Corp. Hayley Kiyoko slams new Rita Ora song Girls as a dangerous message

first_imgSinger Hayley Kiyoko with her truth | Photo: YouTube/Vevo Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading… GAYSTARNEWS- eTN Chatroom for Readers (join us) The song dropped yesterday with lyrics like ‘I’m 50/50 and I’m never gonna hide it’. Ora explained her own sexuality in regards to the song and the honesty of that lyric.Cardi B, Charli XCX, and Bebe Rexha are also on the song with Ora.Kiyoko, whose album Expectations dropped earlier this year, made a statement about the new song on Twitter.Real talk pic.twitter.com/9EbZd5dYZq— Hayley Kiyoko (@HayleyKiyoko) May 11, 2018Real talkHere’s Kiyoko’s statement in full:It’s important for us artists to move the cultural needle forward, not backwards. There is a new song that came out today featuring a handful of well-known pop artists that has me overwhelmed with thoughts. I literally have a knot in my stomach right now.To be clear, I fully support other artists who freely express themselves and applaud male and female artists who are opening up more and more about their sexual identities. But every so often there comes certain songs with messaging that is downright tone-deaf, which does more harm than good for the LGBTQ+ community. A song like this just fuels the male gaze while marginalizing the idea of women loving women.I know this wasn’t the intention of the artists on the song, but it’s the lack of consideration behind these lyrics that really get me. I don’t need to drink wine to kiss girls; I’ve loved women my entire life. This type of message is dangerous because it completely belittles and invalidates the very pure feelings of an entire community. I feel I have a responsibility to protect that whenever possible. We can and should do better.Kiyoko’s sentence about wine is a reference to a lyric in the new song’s chorus: ‘Red wine, I just wanna kiss girls, girls, girls.’‘That’s the tea’Some people are criticizing Kiyoko for her statement. You’re literally using the LGBT community to attack women and tell them what to do with their works. Don’t you feel embarrassed of yourself?— Number 22 (@Riguistan) May 11, 2018 rita and bebe are bi sweetie they can sing about what they want to if it’s about them — muir (@Igbttoni) May 11, 2018However, others agree.Especially the part where it’s said “we shared a guy” which further pushes the stereotype that women only love other women because they can use it to get guys. And also that bisexuality = polygamy??? Which it doesn’t?!?!— isabella (@dip_n_dotz) May 11, 2018They also noted the song’s writers and Cardi B’s controversial past comments.Isn’t cardi homophobic (or transphobic? I don’t remember)— Crawford (@crawfordcoreyc) May 11, 2018 i feel no harm was meant since these must be their experiences but no one who loves themself and is comfortable with their sexuality needs to do these things to kiss girls. girls don’t need to be under the influence to be in love with girls and that’s that.— peyt (@plentyobscure) May 11, 2018 Not everyone is enamored with Rita Ora’s new collaborative song Girls — namely lesbian singer Hayley Kiyoko. Yeah, it was written by almost only men, which explains the male gaze and all this shit, so.. — Sorry Baby x (@_SarahManning__) May 11, 2018Others compared it to Katy Perry’s I Kissed a Girl.I feel like they have a good intention, but the problem is that it just comes off as another ‘I kissed a girl’ that’s about 10 years too late… I feel like artists feel like they have to put a bunch of stereotypes in songs to relate with the majority, and I really love you — ◢ ◤ (@DreamerAngieM) May 11, 2018Kiyoko is currently on her Expectations tour. Later this year, she’ll be touring with Panic! At the Disco.Got a news tip? Want to share your story? Email us .
