SUU Men’s Basketball Head Coach Todd Simon Named Recipient of 2021 Jim Phelan Award

first_img FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailBOSTON-Thursday, collegeinsider.com announced Southern Utah University men’s basketball head coach Todd Simon as the recipient of the 2021 Jim Phelan Award.This is annually presented to the best head coach in Division I men’s basketball.Simon, who is 73-82 (.471) in his fifth season at SUU, led the Thunderbirds to a Big Sky Conference regular season championship and a 20-4 record.Simon was also named as the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball coach of the year.The Thunderbirds possessed the No. 4 scoring offense in Division I (84.2 points per game) and finished eight nationally in scoring margin (+14.7 points per game).Previous noteworthy winners of this award include Bob Huggins of West Virginia (2015), Dana Altman of Oregon (2013) and Stew Morrill of Utah State (2013) among others.
