Sale faced a couple of minor leaguers in a batting practice session Sunday at spring training. The seven-time All-Star had his season cut short last year because of elbow trouble. His progression has been delayed this spring because he reported to camp with pneumonia. Sale will start this season on the injured list, but the Red Sox hope he won’t miss more than about two weeks.— Lance McCullers pitched for the Houston Astros for the first time since having Tommy John surgery after the 2018 season. McCullers started Sunday’s spring training game against St. Louis and threw 16 pitches. He finished up by striking out Cardinals star Paul Goldschmidt with a curveball. The Astros want to be cautious with McCullers as he comes back from his elbow injury. If he’s OK, McCullers could take the third spot in Houston’s rotation behind Justin Verlander and Zack Greinke.— New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom took on two nemeses in his first outing of spring training — a bout of nerves, and the Washington Nationals — and the two-time reigning NL Cy Young winner got the best of both. DeGrom threw three scoreless innings in a 3-1 win. He cruised on just 33 pitches, striking out two and allowing one hit against the defending World Series champs. (AP) — A ninth horse has died at Santa Anita since late December after being injured in a turf race.Chosen Vessel broke his left front ankle in the $59,000 race on Saturday. He was pulled up by jockey Edwin Maldonado as he approached the far turn in the 1 1/8-mile race.The 5-year-old gelding trained by Craig Dollase was taken to the track’s equine hospital for diagnostics and X-rays. According to an incident report from the track, the tests revealed it was an unrecoverable injury and the attending veterinarian recommended the horse be euthanized. Brook Lopez added 16 points and seven rebounds for the Bucks, who’ve won 20 of their last 22 games and improved to a league-best 52-8 on the season. The Bucks led by two entering the fourth quarter. first_imgMajella and Daniel with their feet back on the ground!Daniel and Majella O’Donnell are certainly going up in the world these days.The couple decided to take a trip in a flight simulator and admitted they found it nerve racking.The husband and wife tried out the Upilot simulator which is operated by an Irish company at Dublin Airport. Majella revealed “Just flew a B737NG flight simulator. A real challenge. Very nerve racking but great fun. Find at T2 dep lounge.”The simulator is the brainchild of Donegal men Kevin and John Paul Boyle who started the company last year.The company have two flight simulators based at Dublin Airport which allows passengers to undertake a real-life flying experience.The company has offices in both Annagry and Dublin.
