NATIONAL U-21 champion, Jasmine Billingy, will look to continue her flawless run today, on the second day of the Forbes Burnham Memorial Table Tennis tournament at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown.The nine-year-old, who finished joint third in the ‘C’ division at the National Championships a few weeks ago, was one of eight persons who emerged on top of their respective groups in the ‘C’ Division when the opening round was held on Friday evening.Billingy had romped to three consecutive wins to finish on top of Group 3. She defeated Nathan Persaud 3-0 (11-2, 11-3, 11-4), Saajid Shaffie 3-0 (11-3, 11-6, 11-1) and Alimah Eastman 3-0 (11-3, 11-6, 11-3).Troy McRae, who reached the finals of the Nationals ‘C’ division competition, finishedsecond in Group 1. He lost to Mark Evans 2-3 in their best-of-five battle. Evans also got past T. Rahim and D. Ariff.Narren Persaud was also flawless in his execution. He got the better of C. Hector 3-0, Z. Johnson 3-0 and A. Hannif 3-0. Walter Marcus also claimed comprehensive wins, when he battled against national U-13 player Nkechi McRae, Arvin Gandadeen and T. Orderson.Meanwhile, Umar Percival, Carl Handy, Abdool Aleem Rahim and S. Rahim were also victorious in their groups in the 32-player battle.Along with the C division, the 21 Years old and Under, the ‘B’ Division and the Seniors are also scheduled to continue today.
