India’s star cricketers have made the most of their time in the West Indies after the grind of the last one year. A packed home Test season was followed by the IPL and the Champions Trophy. Then the Anil Kumble resignation left a bad taste in the mouth. In the course of India’s Champions Trophy campaign, reports emerged that captain Virat Kohli and several other players were not happy with Kumble’s style of coaching. Things took an ugly turn after the tournament when the coach stepped down over differences with Virat Kohli. The sudden resignation created shockwaves at home. However, Team India counted its lucky stars to be far away during this turbulent period. In the Caribbean for a five-match ODI series and a one-off T20 International, Kohli and his men have taken it easy in the West Indies – the first ODI was washed out and it was easy sailing in the second as Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane set up an easy victory. The action now moves to Antigua from Port of Spain. There was a long break after the second ODI on Sunday. The third match will be played on Friday and the players were given a day off to explore the scenery around. Not surprisingly, the players took in the sights and played some beach volleyball and took a dip in the clear blue water.Dhawan and MS Dhoni are also travelling with their wives and kids and that has certainly helped the team bond better.advertisementIndia will take on the West Indies in the third ODI at Antigua on Friday.
