Donegal public warned of danger of fireworks

first_imgSinn Féin Councillor Gary Doherty has today urged users of fireworks in Donegal to be mindful of their neighbours and to remember that unlicenced use in this jurisdiction is illegal.Cllr Doherty was speaking as the Halloween season gets underway and preparations begin for bonfire and fireworks displays across the country. He said “As we approach the Halloween festival we are beginning to see fireworks being set off in towns and villages across Donegal. I have had a number of reports from people, particularly the elderly and vulnerable about fireworks casuing them undue stress, especially if they are ignited late at night. Therefore I would ask that anyone setting these fireworks off be mindful of their neighbours and be aware that they may feel afraid by the noise at unsociable hours.”“It is also worth remembering that anyone found guilty of igniting a firework, throwing a firework or having a firework with an intention to supply it to another person without a licence can be imprisoned for up to five years and fined €10,000.“Only fireworks licenced for import and used by a professional licenced operator are permitted in this jurisdiction. I would certainly urge anyone planning a Halloween party or event to be mindful of the law surrounding fireworks.”Donegal public warned of danger of fireworks was last modified: October 11th, 2016 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more
